Excerpts From An Archive (Soul Retrieval Charms)

Installation. Limes, Photographs, Linseed Oil, Thread, Pins, Website, 2001

A combination of found imagery (& the occasional family photo) which were then photocopied and painted with linseed oil and painstakingly sewn onto dried limes (the fruit). Pinned to the wall in a grid-like structure, there are portholes cut out in the wall, behind which are monitors showing a largely fictional archive website (early net art) which imagines these characters, most of whom might be considered the “underbelly” of the archive.

More than a decade later these limes still remain intact and retain some of their scent.
